Terms of Service
Last updated: April 14, 2026
Overview
What the AI ("the Service") is operated by Some Shovels. By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
The Service
What the AI is a curated AI news aggregator. We collect articles from public sources (RSS feeds, Hacker News, Reddit, arXiv, X/Twitter, Bluesky, GitHub), classify them using AI, and present them organized by skill level and topic.
We do not author the articles we aggregate. Each article links to its original source, and credit belongs to the original authors and publications.
Accounts
You can browse the feed without an account. Creating an account (via Google sign-in or email) unlocks personalization, bookmarks, voting, digest emails, and saved filters.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Don't share your credentials or let others use your account.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download content from the Service
- Submit false or misleading article flags
- Attempt to manipulate rankings through coordinated voting
- Interfere with the operation of the Service
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Content & Classification
Articles are classified by AI. Classifications (tier, category, quality score) are automated and may not always be accurate. Community votes and admin corrections help improve accuracy over time.
We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of content from third-party sources. Always verify critical information from original sources.
Email Digests
If you subscribe to email digests, you can unsubscribe at any time through your settings page or the unsubscribe link in any digest email.
Intellectual Property
The What the AI name, logo, and original UI design are the property of Some Shovels. AI-generated summaries and classifications are produced for informational purposes.
Article content belongs to the respective authors and publishers. We display titles, summaries, and metadata under fair use for news aggregation purposes.
Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on AI classifications, broken links, or service interruptions.
Changes
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
