Account data: When you sign in via Google or email (powered by Clerk), we store your email address and display name to personalize your experience.

Usage data: We track which articles you read, vote on, bookmark, and flag. This data is tied to your account and used to improve your feed and the quality of our rankings.

Preferences: Your chosen skill level, preferred categories, roles, and digest settings are stored to personalize content.

Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics for anonymous page view and performance metrics, and Sentry for error tracking.

How We Use Your Data

  • Personalizing your feed and "Most Relevant" rankings
  • Sending email digests if you opt in
  • Improving article classification based on community votes
  • Responding to flagged content reports
  • Fixing bugs and improving performance

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services to operate What the AI:

  • Clerk — Authentication (sign-in, account management)
  • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting
  • Vercel — Application hosting, analytics, and edge functions
  • OpenRouter — AI classification of articles (article content only, not user data)
  • Resend — Email delivery for digests
  • Sentry — Error monitoring

Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (managed by Clerk) and theme preference (stored in localStorage). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at roberts.john.adam@gmail.com.

When your account is deleted, all associated data (reads, votes, bookmarks, flags, preferences, and digest settings) is permanently removed.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of email digests at any time
